I was born in the seaside town of Bangor in County Down Northern Ireland. I have always had a love of food and spent many hours with my mum and grandfather cooking anything and everything from griddle scones to rainbow trout caught by my father. While studying for my A levels I had a change in direction I had always wanted to train as a nurse but after a visit to the University of Ulster – my head and heart were refocused on a degree in Home Economics and this is where my career in food started. During this time I spent my industrial placement with Northern Foods at Fenland in Grantham, followed by a further 4 years after graduating. I then progressed to Evesham foods developing pastry based products. However the majority of my career has been with Geest and then more recently Bakkavor as Head of Development, covering a wide product area of recipe dish, salads, soups, sauces dips and dressing.
I started with NPDD in Sept 2014, so far it’s been fantastic with such a diverse customer and product base it’s never going to be boring!
